- Latvian women are recognized as the tallest females in the world.

- Friedrich Wilhelm Ostwald is the only Latvian to ever win a Nobel Prize. In 1909, the scientist won the Nobel prize in Chemistry for his work on catalysis, chemical equilibria and reaction velocities.

- Latvia has over 12,000 rivers, only 17 of which are longer than 100 km.

- The first spy camera, called “Minox”, was produced by the Latvian factory VEF between 1937 and 1943.

- Acid rain has contributed to the destruction of Latvia's forests. Acid rain is precipitation made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution which causes environmental harm.

  • The level of experience traveling solo of the reviewer (beginner = <5 trips solo, Intermediate = 5 to 10 trips solo, Experienced = >10 trips solo).

  • Whether they are a visitor or local.
  • The date they were posted.

The safety scores range from 1 to 4 with 1 being the safest and 4 being the most dangerous for solo female travelers. 

Thus, the lower the score, the safer the country.
