At Solo Female Travelers Tours, our values shape every decision we make. They are not a marketing slogan, but the way we live and breathe as a team.
Our values guide how we design our tours, who we partner with, how we support our guests and team at large, and the impact we hope to leave on the host communities we visit.
We believe travel has the power to change lives, and we’re committed to using that power to create positive change for women, both within our community and around the world.
Every decision we make is driven by a simple goal: to leave both our guests and the places we visit better than we found them.
Local over easy

We’ll happily swap a standard tourist attraction for dinner in a local family’s home or a fine dining meal at an up and coming local chef.
We’ll choose a woman weaving traditional textiles or an artist’s home over a souvenir shop, and we won’t ask them to sanitise or Westernise their homes and studios for us, you will meet them how they are.
We’ll introduce you to the women behind a place, not just the landmarks, and spend time with them to learn about the culture through their lenses.
Those are the connections and stories you’ll still be talking about years later, the ones that change the traveler and build bridges.
Tolerance, respect and open-mindedness

We are open minded, tolerant and value and respect diversity in people, ideas, and personal style.
We nurture and embrace differing perspectives, listen to one another, and believe that cultural diversity is our greatest superpower and travel is the best antidote to a world with increased polarisation.
We strive to show a deep respect for all human beings despite our differences, and for the communities in which they live. We embrace working with people of different backgrounds, cultures, and thinking styles as a necessity for personal growth.
Kindness is non-negotiable for us; It is the culture of our community, our team and our business.
We believe kindness, empathy and respect create better experiences for everyone, whether it’s how we treat our guests, our guides, our local partners or each other, and they are the basis for how we conduct ourselves.
Positive Impact

We strive to minimize our negative impact on the environment, the people and the animal world, and build social value wherever we go.
We are keenly aware of our impact as travelers, and believe that responsible tourism should be mutually beneficial to both the traveler and the host communities, especially for women.
We aim to leave a positive impact on the women we meet and the communities they belong to, and participate in the local culture in a meaningful two-way manner that benefits both the traveler and the female hosts. We ask first, and don’t impose our views or opinions, and we support each partner in the way they prefer.
We act as responsible global citizens and do our best to de-colonise how we travel and define itineraries that honor people and places.
We offer the women in our world training, support, promotion and marketing, flexibility and anything else they may need.
Ethical and mindful

We base our decisions on ethical principles and mindfulness rather than short term profits.
We don’t take the easy road, but the right one, and focus on supporting local communities and experiences.
We help our travelers familiarise with the host destination culture and practices before a trip, respect the local culture and discourage exploitative practices that commoditise people or places. We avoid harmful activities towards wildlife and prioritise independently owned local businesses over international chains.
Caring, here for the long run

We never started Solo Female Travelers for profit, we did so because we wanted to change the travel industry to be more equitable, welcoming and favorable to women, and this has guided all our decisions.
We are here for the long run, side by side with our guides and partners and all the women in the tourism industry. We aim to help them in whatever way we can.
For us, the relationship doesn’t end when the tour finishes.
Many women travel with us again, most stay connected through our community, and many become lifelong friends.
Our guides are part of our larger family, and we support them even when they need to take time off to take care of their families or other responsibilities.
We strive to do the right thing even when nobody is watching
Because what we’re building has never been just about running tours. We’re building a global community of women who inspire, encourage and support one another and the women who open their homes and lives to us.
Do you uphold these values?
