Etymology: Bonaire: The name "Bonaire" is thought to be derived from the Caquetio word "Bonay", meaning "low country". The early Spanish and Dutch modified its spelling to Bojnaj and also Bonaire.
Sint Eustatius: The name of the island, "Sint Eustatius" is the Dutch name for Saint Eustace (also spelled Eustachius or Eustathius), a legendary Christian martyr, known in Spanish as San Eustaquio and in Portuguese as Santo Eustáquio or Santo Eustácio.
Saba: The origin of the island's name remains unknown. Saba was referred to by its present name as early as 1595 when it appeared in a voyage account by John Hawkins. Before its present name, the island was designated "St. Christopher" by Christopher Columbus.

- There is a flip flop tree on Bonaire, it has around 150 flip flops hanging.

- You can on safari in Bonaire. Though it will not be the typical safari where you see lions, elephants and zebras, you will be able to admire flamingos, donkeys and exotic birds.

- Every year between March and November, in St. Eustatius, sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches of Statia.

- The island of Saba is home to the highest point in the entire Kingdom of the Netherlands. Mount Scenery is 877-meters high and dominates the island's landscape.

- Almost all of the islands of the former Netherlands Antilles are duty-free. Enormous assortments of consumer electronics, watches, household items, and jewellery are sold without any taxes and fees. This makes these islands attractive shopping destinations.
